Poor guys in Evanescence.12:11 p.m. - 2004-03-24
Today's topic: Evanescence.
What is it with Evanescence videos? I've actually only seen two: the one where the singer climbs the building and falls, and the one that is trying to be OH so artsy, that's all black and white with the rags tied on her hands and feet.
The themes that carries through both videos are a bit disturbing.
1. She is free and outside.
2. The band is locked up in a little room.
Even at the start of the falling video, at least she had an open window. I mean, sure, she may fall off a building, but that isn't her fault. It's because of that guy who tried to take her into the little room. He didn't know that she was supposed to be roaming outside freely, obviously.
Her bandmates, however, aren't allowed outside. Black and white video? Locked in a pretty small, rather dingy room, and there are, what 4 or so other members in the band?
Big building video? Guys locked in a small, dingy room on the top of a tower. Even the other guy, not in the band, had to stay in the tower room. That's probably why he could open the window to cause her fall to death! Because he isn't in the band, he can open windows.
It makes me wonder about tours, though. I mean, they must be either on a tour, or about to leave for one. Do they erect a small dingy room on stage, so the band won't distract the crowd from the e'er more important female lead singer? Or do they let the band on stage, but only if they stay in the background?
Also, I have a cold. On spring break. And Aunt Flo is visiting.
