My hair freezes, and I have an idea.
10:56 a.m. - 2004-01-30

I normally walk with my hair in my face when it is cold. Then, when I breath, the warm air is kept near my face, so that my face is less cold, unless the wind is blowing hard.

Why did I mention this delighting tidbit today, you may inquire? Well, it was so cold today, that the water in my breath froze onto the strands in front of my face in between breaths. The ice crystals in my hair would grow larger and larger with each breath, until my hair was trapped in an intricant web, which would be stuck in this pattern until I went inside, where my hair would become merely wet and cold.

That is frickin’ cold, people. Now I know, there are other diarylanders who get it colder. Say Marn, for example. But Marn lives in Canada. She knew it would get to -40 degrees farenheit when she moved there, and she was willing to take those types of extreme temperatures. I live in the relatively temperate zone of St. Louis. We are supposed to be hovering around the freezing point during the winter. Not hair-freezing-from-breath temperatures. Where the hell is global warming?!

Anyway, I had an idea in the shower the other day (Ooooh… naughty.) Not that type of idea, though. I was thinking about my diary (umm… ooooh, lame!), because the shower is generally where I get my best ideas for entries (and then I promptly forget about them later, and they are never realized upon your screen). So, I was thinking about just doing an entry about an everyday type thing, but then for a lot of the terms, I would do a search on Google, and find a random page that has absolutely nothing to do with whatever the term was, and link it for that term. Okay, it really doesn’t sound that neat, but it would be interesting if realized, I think. So, I was all excited, and already had come up with a username for the account and how I would design the site, and everything (it would be waxpaper at d-land.com—after the episode that started the idea for it… which I won’t elaborate on here).

So, you know, it was all typed out in my brain, and ready for use, when I thought… gee, I barely have enough time to keep this diary REASONABLY up-to-date. To design html for a whole new site (cause I want to start doing that, I’ve been reading up, but I’m probably not going to redesign this for a while), and then pop in a few entries, and do all that googling… well, that would take a long time. So, if you would like to hijak this awesomely, wickedly cool idea from me… go for it! Please let me know, though, and give me a tiny little credit somewhere for the idea? And, if you already know of a diary with this concept, please let me know. I’d like to read it (I don’t think there is one such diary out there, but you never know. I wouldn’t take the idea from someone else without credit.)

Also, I have a rather amusing anctedote about slipping on some ice, but I think I’m not going to go over it in this entry. I think this one is long enough. Hopefully, I’ll put it in another entry.
